Golden hour walk
Warm low sun, long shadows, people walking: cinematic colour and smooth tracking shots.
Follow the screens in order. Each card shows the gesture to reach the screen, then the settings to set.
1Camera view
How to get there: Liveview after power on (tap the on-screen icons)
Shooting mode
Set to: Video
Why: Video mode for Film Tone and the smart gimbal modes.
Tap the mode icon at the bottom left, swipe to choose, then tap the mode or swipe up to return. ActiveTrack is unavailable in Panorama, Timelapse, Motionlapse and SpinShot.
Smart gimbal mode
Set to: Spotlight Follow
Why: Follows the subject closest to the centre, or only a registered subject if one exists.
Video mode only: tap the smart gimbal mode icon on the left of the liveview.
Smart gimbal mode
Set to: SpinShot 180° for one transition
Why: The camera rotates 90° or 180° while recording for a cinematic transition; use sparingly. Craft recommendation, not from the manual.
Video mode only: tap the smart gimbal mode icon on the left of the liveview.
2Image and audio settings
How to get there: Swipe left in the camera view
Color mode
Set to: D-Log 2 10bit
Why: Backlit subjects against a bright sky are the high-contrast case the manual recommends D-Log for.
D-Log modes keep more dynamic range for color grading in post. The manual names D-Log 10bit and D-Log 2 10bit; other modes are as shown on the camera.
Film Tone
Set to: On (if shooting Standard instead of D-Log)
Why: Video-only look for publishing without grading; not together with Beautify.
Video mode only. Cannot be used together with Beautify.
3Control center
How to get there: Swipe down from the top of the camera view
Register Subject
Set to: Register your companion
Why: Registered subjects get priority for autofocus, gestures and Spotlight Follow.
Registered subjects are prioritised for autofocus, gesture control and Spotlight Follow.
Gimbal mode
Set to: Tilt Locked for push-in shots, Follow otherwise
Why: The manual pairs Tilt Locked with push-in/pull-out and lateral moves.
Follow (default) suits most scenes incl. vlogs and selfies. Tilt Locked suits push-in/pull-out and lateral moves. FPV follows the handle freely for immersive shots; FPV⊥ keeps the camera perpendicular to the handle on power-on or recenter.
Screen brightness
Set to: Adaptive brightness on
Why: Outdoor use per the manual.
Adaptive brightness is meant for outdoor use.
